Weak DOP.
| Opening scene is okay but after that the film is boring. What Anwar is good at is writing (and crafting) scenes that build the atmosphere. Scoring is really unique and somehow will keep you feel uncomfortable and tense all the time, added with constant creepiness of the setting and believable acts. Development of previous Joko Anwar's movie, Pengabdi Setan (Satan's Slave). I'm all about horror movie that not just depends on jumpscares. Move and TV news, trailers, reviews and more! Good storyline, a thrilling ride from start to finish.
It was good, it was thrilling and full of tension, the scene captures my attention immediately.
The opening scene is great, Joko and team chose a fantastic location to shoot. 8.8k members in the Shudder community. Visit his blog HERE and follow him on TWITTER and INSTAGRAM.
who was left alive even though he was born without skin that I felt could have been further developed.
Maya (Tara Basro) and Dini (Marissa Anita) are best friends, working together to get their fledgling clothing business off the ground in a busy city market.
I don't know, it could be either the poorly-written script or the narration and/or the annoying cuts/editing. Keep it up!!!! Fantastic storyline and cinematography, we as the audience could feel what the actress feels in the movie. Impetigore (Perempuan Tanah Jahanam) is an Indonesian folk horror movie from director Joko Anwar (Satan’s Slaves, Gundala). It leaves itself without much option than to cram in a lot of exposition. I found this to be a disappointment as my expectations were high cos of Joko Anwar.
But i cant find something special about this movie.
I didn't really get the part where the chief killed himself though? Your email address will not be published.
The plot was great, this story is incredibly rich. Her fear comes alive when the man tells her everything about her, from her name, her father's name n her village wher she was born, all these info creeps her out even more.
I tried to seek for such experience I mentioned beforehand, but unfortunately I didn't find any from this flick. (In Sundance, Udine Far East film festivals.) Australia: Win Bonkers Horror-Comedy ‘Satanic Panic’ on DVD! Shoutout for Christine Hakim, she terrifies me. But the half stories is booring. The set up of this film feels very convincing. Like so many other critics, I would also say that the flashbacks were way too long (and somewhat confusing?). The dialogue is pretty good. Before watching it, I expect it will be really scary like "Pengabdi Setan", which also directed by the same person. Intensely creepy.
His Satan's Slaves is a solid horror film n his Gundala is an amazing action thriller. | From the studio (or producer) that brought you 2016's "The Wailing", though in my opinion not as great, "Impetigore" is an evidence that Joko Anwar (Jokan) is ever ready to take the global market with his horror, mind-twisting work of art (or at least just Asia, or maybe the south-eastern part of the continent). I felt nothing throughout the film. I strongly recommend. I want to see more and more movie like this in Indonesia, MANTAP. There's nothing new about the premise: a silly curse that need to be broken by a girl who tries to find out about her estranged family.
Heavy gore and some tough scenes to watch in a well put together little film. Indonesian film with elements of folk horror such as Java puppets and the use of Java dialect, but strongly influenced by good ocidental horror cinema. Whoever you are, thank you for making this film! We would actually have appreciated to know more about his life/purpose in the village. It's crazy how a scene depicting an overnight bus ride through rural Indonesia gives you subtle, uneasy hints of the horrors to follow.
