It's a very similar style to, Tim Dorsey’s fiction series about life in Florida is fun to read but hopefully overstated.
It started a little slowly and for a couple of chapters, I wasn't sure if the humour was going to work - it seemed largely missing. There were a couple of times I wished I was holding a book in my hands instead of listening, so that I could go back and refresh my memory or easily re-read something. Dorsey's latest book was mentioned in the NYTimes Book Review last week, so I decided to check out the author for $3.79 before spending for his new book!! Jim likes Serge as well, but Martha senses something strange about Serge and orders him to stay away. Yuppies with pit bulls, hot-rodding pizza deliverymen, Machiavellian used-car salesmen, Rastafarians who refuse to smoke dope, floating pawn shops on Crack Street, neighborhood crimewatch teams running for their lives, after-midnight clientele at twenty-four-hour supermarkets that put zombie movies to shame, unnatural sex, casual violence, gore, blasphemy, and people who write checks at convenience stores.It all becomes too much for Jim, and before this peaceful Indiana farm boy knows what's happened to him, he's gone and killed someone.
